OURNAL subscribers are urged to report by telephone or in person when ever their paper is oet delivered each evening. There are a number of new carrier bays and frequently when they take up route they mise a few on their list. Unless report is made directly to the office we are not aware of the mistakes.
Crop bulletin reports cooler early week followed by warm drying spell aiding crops on well drained lands. Rainfall varied with some Hooding on the Vedlar river causing crop damage, while dry sunshine improved conditions in many areas. Spring wheat is progressing with rust damage, potato crop seems promising though moisture-caused issues appear, and several outputs hover near normal depending on upcoming weather.
A flurry of brief items recounts Allen and Johnson ice cream specials and treats, forthcoming meetings, and visits. Readers learn of people traveling to Davenport, Columbus Junction, Muscatine, and Chicago, plus social calls to Burlington, Iowa City, and Brighton. Local names include R. M. Wilson Bruce, J. A. Guest, Ed Fox, Roy Andrews, Mrs. Carrie Nation, Prof. OC. M. Grumbiog, and Mrs. Danl McCarty among others as citizens visit kin, attend events, or travel by the Firefly and Flyer.
The Welsh Construction Co of Davenport leads paving at Fairfield with thirty expert brick pavers on site. Fifty cars of curbing brick and stone are at the depot and work is to be completed by September 1. Also promoting Dean's Ointment with free samples at Columbia Pharmacy on Saturday July 2.
The home squad strengthens for a Thursday afternoon game with the Wapello team in a warm contest. Old stars will play as both sides feature improving form, with a 3 o'clock start. A meeting of the Order of Raatarn Star is set for this evening at the Masonic Temple to initiate a candidate and handle business, followed by the regular monthly gathering tomorrow. members urged to attend both sessions.

Advert mentions cures for kidney and liver troubles stomach disorders nervousness sleeplessness rheumatism neuralgia and malaria with Stewart's Pharmacy guarantee and a 50 cent price.
A report in circulation claimed Hon. Safe Young planned to sell his paper The Des Moines Capital. An editorial in last evening's Capital denies the report and states no sale is intended.
Daniel Spengler of Petro traveled to Sioux City to obtain a marriage license for Misa Hale Hummel without her knowledge. He returned home and pressed his claim, prompting his arrest on a charge of insanity.
A mix of notices on health remedies and travelers. Dr Kings New Life Pills hailed for digestion issues at Stewart's drug store. Frank Cushman and wife visited in town after Washington term, then to visit relatives in Nebraska. Joseph Warren and Mrs Warren visit Red Cloud, Nebr, after staying with Mrs Everson.
J A Kelly recounts a dysentery episode using Chamberlains Colic Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy with satisfactory, quicker relief, noted Henderson North Carolina citizen. A 20 car special train for D C Streeter grading and construction moves toward Oskaloosa and Des Moines extension, with plans to push completion rapidly. Residents Mr and Mrs Jno T Matthews and others depart Muscatine for Washington after a stay at Mulberry Street home.
Agnes Johnstone an 18 year old Canadian girl living at 1144 Congress street east, is engaged to Simon Opitik of Scenic park Eskimo village. They fear legal restraint may stop the marriage. Her brothers urge her away from the village as she pursues Opitik.
