Haiphong Oil Depot Raids Hurt Vietnam War Efforts
U S officials report Thursday raids knocked out pumping stations handling about 95 percent of North Vietnam’s petroleum imports near Haiphong. Navy jets also destroyed three patrol boats and fended off Soviet MiG 21 missiles while flying 77 missions with two planes lost. One F105 Thunderchief was reported down northwest of Hanoi, pilot missing, and Lt Cmdr William J Isenhour ejected safely over the South China Sea. Battle also damaged PT boats near Haiphong and a SAM site northwest of Hanoi challenged U S jets for the first time missiles narrowly missed Thunderchiefs seen in the air.

Six Die In Iowa Traffic Toll Rises
United Press International reports six people died in Iowa traffic accidents Thursday, raising the 1966 Iowa toll to 372. Boone woman Jan Pritchard, 19, burned in a truck cab after a station wagon turned left and collided with the gravel truck driven by Galen Lowman, 21. Lowman survived with burns. Herrstrom, 16, was treated for scalp injuries. Earlier, Herbert L. Mohler, 54, of Hudson, died after his car crossed the center line and rolled. Herbert D. Hinrichson, 60, of Ute, was crushed when a tractor tipped. A two-car crash near Muscatine killed Curtis L. Kagg, 60, his wife Mary, 60, and Marcus Maxwell, 19, on Iowa 61.

Death Comes Sudden: Harry W Ramseyer Dies at 70
Harry W. Ramseyer 70 of 1415 East Washington Street died in his sleep at home. A civic leader and businessman, he was state commander of the Veterans of World War I and former state legislator from Washington County. He founded Ramseyer Hatchery and Feed in 1925, later worked as a USDA inspector, and held multiple civic posts.
