New Missouri Transit Schedule Issued From Washington Depot
A new schedule for Missouri Transit buses departing from the Washington depot at the 92 cafe was announced. The timetable lists routes from Ft Madison and Mt Pleasant to Iowa City and Cedar Rapids at 10 50 am and from Ottumwa and Fairfield to Iowa City and Cedar Rapids at 7 35 pm. Cedar Rapids and Iowa City to Fairfield Ottumwa depart at 3 05 pm and from Cedar Rapids to Mt Pleasant and Ft Madison at 6 46 pm.

Three Firms Win $160000 Washington School Bond Issue
Ten bidders competed Thursday for 160000 in school bonds for Washington two grade schools. Winners were William Blair Co of Chicago Veith Dun can and Wood of Davenport and Carleton DP Beh come of Des Moines. Bonds bear 2 percent interest maturing in 1969 with a 4005 premium. Construction set to begin next spring after voters approved the issue in a spring election. An earlier 250000 high school funding proposal failed.

Truman Seeks 260 Million for Atomic Weapons Development
President Truman asked Congress for 260 million dollars to fund all forms of atomic weapons including hydrogen bombs. He said the money would enable the Atomic Energy Commission to build new, advanced production plants to produce weapons or fuel for engines and power plants. He stressed international control of atomic energy for peaceful purposes but said the U S must strengthen defenses by boosting production capacity.

Kaiser Frazer lays off 10000 workers over strike
Kaiser Frazer Corp. announced a temporary layoff of 10,000 employees in Detroit as the week-old UAW Warner gear division strike disrupts production.
