The Yumin store museum will be open Sunday afternoons from 2 to 5 through July starting this Sunday. Displays include items not seen in years and others never seen, inviting residents to visit and recall past times.
An eight defendant extortion racketeering trial tied to Jersey City and Hudson County politics concluded with guilty verdicts on 29 indictments. Jurors found conspiracies and multiple extortion counts against administrators and officials including Philip Kunz and Walter Wolfe, with interim statements from mayor Whelan. Sentencing scheduled, bond set at $25,000.
President Nixon pressed labor and management leaders in the steel industry to seek a constructive settlement that would protect the sector from further harm in world markets. The program features Dixieland, marches, waltzes, polkas and solos, with performers listed including Stewart Bell Tom Carson Cloyd Garrett Larry Green Gary McCurdy Milburn McKay James Quinn Milo Steele Gene Thomas Merle Turnipseed John Win and others. The concert is part of a probate notice page 07 detailing will and executor appointment for Linus J. Yeagy.
Des Moines. Gov. Robert D. Ray nears end of 1971 legis lative session with four bills awaiting action. Appropriations for interim Budget and Financial Committee and Sec Department, plus General Services Agency and trailer safety measures, remain to be decided. Action deadline end of month. signed laws would take effect July 1 or August 15 as specified.

The move follows a dispute over Clinch & Boden, with new Commissioner Maurice Van Nostrand criticizing communication and weighing a staff boost or a new firm to better serve the public interest.
Iowa City UPI reports a State Hygienic Laboratory official cautions that as wildlife encroaches on rural areas the risk of rabies rises. Dr Frank Koontz notes rabid skunks and other nocturnal animals pose daylight danger and urges immediate cleansing of bites and rapid vaccine use.
Vice President Spiro T. Agnew promised U S support to India during a refueling stop in Bombay on his Asia tour. He told officials including Maharashtra governor Ali Yabar Jung that the Nixon administration is extremely sympathetic and will assist in any way possible to help six million refugees from East Pakistan’s civil war. No specific aid proposals were announced as Washington and New Delhi work out details.
Louis Armstrong the famed jazz trumpeter died at his Corona home at 5:30 a.m. He had recently left Beth Israel Medical Center after kidney trouble. Born July 4, 1900 in New Orleans, Armstrong revolutionized jazz trumpet and earned international fame. A publicist confirmed the death and noted Nixon sent a telegram.
President Nixon presided at a White House ceremony certifying a constitutional Amendment for young voters. A 500 voice youth choir from the University Music Princeton performed The Battle Hymn of the Republic as officials watched. Witnesses included Julianne Jones, Joseph Lloyd Jr, and Paul Larimer.
