Local Residents Injured in Minden Nebr Auto Crash
Don Smith returns home from Minden Nebraska after a family accident that injured parents C O Smith and his wife. The couple, from Washington, were traveling to Colorado when a gravel truck blocked highway 6 44 near Minden at 11 50 am. Mr Smith sustained chest injuries broken ribs and head wounds while Mrs Smith endured similar facial injuries and knee and hip lacerations. The car was destroyed and hospital care was sought in Seeley and Washington or Ottumwa for future treatment.

Tragic drowning of Wade McClelland after boat capsized
Wade Lee McClelland seven of Dublin area south of Washington died yesterday afternoon when the boat carrying him and his two sisters Beverly Ann and Dover Killeen capsized in the Skunk River back water. The two girls were rescued after neighbors secured another boat and Wade’s body was recovered by Carroll Richardson. Coroner Dr Ws Kyle ruled no inquest necessary. Funeral services set for Sunday at Sherman’s funeral home Hillcrest Cemetery burial. Surviving are parents F Keith and Nina Wilson McClelland sisters and grandparents.

National Farm Loan Group Pays Dividend to Farmers

Dale Heyde 35 Dies After Sudden Heart Attack
Dale Heyde a carpenter from Washington county died at 10 a m today after a heart attack while working on a new house. He was born April 25 1916 in Brighton son of George William and Florence Nichols Heyde. Survived by wife Ruth Smith two children, father George Heyde of Brighton and brother Donald M Heyde of Mt Pleasant. Funeral 2 pm Monday at National Guard Armory. Heyde served in World War II in Italy and the Pacific and was a member of Moose and Knights of Pythias. He lived in Washington since 1946.

Norman Gunn of Kansas City drove a semi owned by Watson Bros. of Omaha into an underpass on Highway 92 west of town. The top of the trailer was torn off, the front end slid into a ditch, a bridge railing was damaged, yet the truck could move under its own power after the crash.
