Iowa youths eighteen and older may vote marry without parental consent and be sued. Consumers are urged to read contracts, know costs, and shop for credit. A cooling off period allows cancellation after door to door sales for contracts over 25 dollars. Maintain good credit by honoring agreements and checking records for errors.
Rates show 50e per week by carrier in Washington. Towns in Washington retail area 4e per week by carrier. Mail in Town (except Washington HQ route) $12 per year or $6.50 every 6 months. Washington HQ route $15 per year or $8 for 8 months. Outside Towns $14 per year or $7.50 every 6 months.
The Washington Optimist Club sponsors the Iowa Master Corn and Soybean Growers contests in Washington County. Eligible farmers may enter at the Washington County Extension office or via contest committee members Frank Patterson, Dr. Dan Allen, and Myron Shields. July 28 entry deadline. $10 per crop. A blue or purple seed tag is needed for the Iowa Crop Improvement Association award for using certified soybean seed, or for Patterson Seed and Supply’s award of $50 for the highest soybean yield with certified or IVR seed.
Ninety Iowa banks joined a 1972 4-H contribution drive for the Iowa 4-H Foundation and National 4-H Foundation. The program ranked first in bank citations and second in total money, with Wellman and other IBA members listed. Plans for 1973 include shifting focus to broader 4-H activities and continuing education.
Iowa State University hosts Cattle Feeders Day on July 12 and Beef Cow Management Day on July 13 with demonstrations on calf care herd nutrition and breeding management. A July 11 cattle confinement seminar at 7:30 p.m. in Kildee auditorium opens the events, sponsored by ISU and the Iowa Cattlemen's Association. A $4 registration covers lunch and proceedings.
