Kemper 17 of Obama Nebraska and Faye Hudson 64 of Keosauqua along with four others in various crashes. Drownings claimed Meiba Ibarra 10 and Linda O Dell 2. A final fatality, John C Foster 22 of Toluca Illinois, occurred near Council Bluffs after the toll period.

Speeding duo given three day jail terms in Des Moines
Des Moines Municipal Judge Harry B. Grund sentenced Patricia Reese 20 and Ronald L. Coffin 20 to three days in jail for speeds exceeding 100 mph.
