Joe Heidelmeier Wins Ford Contest at Washington Pa
Joe Heidelmeier won a first prize in a Memorial Day stock car race at Arden Downs half mile dirt track in Washington Pennsylvania driving a 1935 Ford V 8 pickup. He led from start to finish amid seven 1935 passenger cars and one newer model. Heidelmeier says his truck’s balance aided steering on rough turns and notes his business uses the vehicle for emergency drilling work. He has long favored Ford cars and even uses a Model T motor in a homebuilt drilling machine, having drilled about 300 wells and sometimes running the motor over 60 hours.
