A western-bound Lackawanna express crashed into a stalled eastbound train two miles east of Corning New York. At least forty killed and fifty injured as passengers, many undressed, were removed amid blocked roads and slow identification.
In Laporte Indiana on July 5 Democrats and Republicans plan a joint monster demonstration honoring Governor Marshall. The date is to be set this week with non partisan committees guiding preparations. Columbia City recalls his legal practice and family ties before his ascent to the Indiana governorship.
Colonel Roosevelt asks Judge Len Lindsey of Denver to be his running mate on a third party ticket. Lindsey is considering the proposition after a visit here en route to Dunton Texas where he spoke from the chautauqua platform.

Denver July 6 The Scouts of America accept invitation to affiliate with the guides of England Miss Agnes Len Powell leader and sister of Sir Baden Powell extended the invitation for affiliation to the loan organization Miss Adella Lane head of the latter announces the acceptance.
