Des Moines July 5 R W Gifford pioneer shoe manufacturer of Iowa dies at his son Walter L Gifford's home after a three year kidney illness. He lived in Cedar Rapids for years and in Des Moines for three. he came to Iowa in 1867. Funeral services will be in Cedar Rapids with burial in Massachusetts.

Minister Found Dead in Bed Pastor Frank Wellmeyer Dies
Rev Frank H Wellmeyer was found dead in bed at Rudd after a suspected heart failure. A German Methodist Episcopal minister for 33 years, he came to Iowa in 1879 and is survived by four sons and three daughters. One son is a Gladbrook school principal and a daughter teaches music in Marshalltown.
