Clay Congregational Church Marks 110 Years In Clay Township
The First Congregational church of Clay township near Brighton observes its 110th anniversary today. Originating with six founders Manning Mills Rosewell Mills John Waters Margaret Waters Jane Cooper and Margaret Eawards the congregation grew from a Richland name to Clay Township. By 1902 a new church building was dedicated debt free with a membership of about 60. Six ministers have served the church, including Frank Meacham now a missionary in Africa, and present day services are held under the Denmark Association with Rev. Worner Dalrymple and Bernice.

Graveside Rites Held For Samuel L. Stone
Samuel L. Stone of Willoughby Ohio was laid to rest in Ainsworth Cemetery after a graveside service. He was born in 186? in Ainsworth and educated in Washington county schools and Burlington business college. He worked 30 years as a railway postal clerk and later served as vice president of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Bank in Cleveland. Survivors include his wife Clara. Jones funeral home arranged the services with Rev V. V. Wortman presiding.
