Hattery Urges Cautious Driving to Conserve Tires
Des Moines Iowa. John R Hattery president of the Iowa state safety council urged motorists to forego unnecessary driving over the Fourth of July weekend as a patriotic way to conserve tires. He urged slower speeds and unusual caution to save rubber and prevent accidents. Last year 83 traffic accidents with four deaths occurred over the holiday weekend. In 1940 there were 87 accidents and three fatalities.
