Hitchhiking From The Far West By Dave Elder
In a nocturnal desert trek from No. Del Norte toward Mojave, the narrator recalls a long ride with Jack from Chicago. They endure extreme heat, rough roads, and aging Ford tires while trading tales of flight, sea voyaging, and government service, ending under a moonlit desert sky. The text blends travelogue with reflections on old covered wagons and enduring endurance.
