Mrs. Emma Leppert 6 of 221 West Jefferson street died Monday night at 11 p.m. after a week long illness. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Sherman’s funeral home with Mr. C. Reed in charge. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery at Brighton. Emma Hattie Stephens born August 1886 near Richland, daughter of John and Ann Silvat Stephen, educated in Richland, married May 27 1876 in Sigourney to William F. Leppert. Survived by two daughters, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and two sisters Mrs. Ralph Beliel of Brighton and Mrs. M C Hoskins of Fairfield. She was the last of seven siblings.

The State Highway Commission will accept bids at Ames on July 15 for two new bridges in Washington County and associated resurfacing projects. One bridge spans Crooked Creek south of Red Brick School on Coppock road, about 500 feet west of the existing bridge. A second bridge on Riverside Washington Road crosses Davi Creek, a 55 foot I beam span. Additional farm to market work includes grading and surfacing 1.25 miles of Clas Walton road and 1.25 miles east of Bushs Corner.
