Pittsburg July 1 President T J Shaffer of the Amalgamated Association orders all union employees in the American Steel Hoop company mills to strike. The move follows a failed wage scale conference with the American Sheet Steel Company. Shaffer says funds are available and the strike could be remembered as a fight to the death.
Indianapolis July 1 The funeral for Judge William A Woods will be held tomorrow from Second Presbyterian church with interment at Crown Hill cemetery among notable names including ex President Benjamin Harrison and ex Vice President Thomas A Hendricks. Federal courts have adjourned until after the funeral. Washington July 1 President Gompers of the AFL who was injured in a street car fall Thursday night shows marked improvement and his physician reports encouraging signs of recovery.
