Attempted robbery on city street ends with youths fleeing
Two boys about 13 or 14 accosted an elderly man in the 400 block of East Second Street after dark and tried to rob him. Police tracked the youths for blocks but lost the trail. The victim, carrying a suit and groceries, declined to change a bill and was jostled as one boy claimed to have a gun. The man fled to a nearby porch. the youths fled.

Ronald Brewer 35, an escapee from Anamosa Men's Reformatory, is wanted for questioning in the deaths of Clarence Hnwards 52 and Patricia Edwards 47.
