Three Men Die In Chicago Bakery Fire
A severe fire at a near Loop bakery storage building killed at least three men and left several firemen missing. Fire Chief Robert Quinn said two firefighters may be trapped in the ruins. Eleven firefighters were injured and two hospitals treated them for cuts bruises and burns. The blaze began around 430 am and spread to a glass company building before control was secured near 9 am. Damage estimated at 500000.

Powers Hopes for Release From Russia
Francis Gary Powers, the U2 pilot held in Russia, expressed optimism he may be freed. One Car Crash Fatal to Iowan Near Forest City
Arnold Voortmann, 20, of Buffalo Center, died in a one car accident on a gravel road 11 miles northwest of Forest City Friday night. His body was found about 30 feet from the overturned vehicle after a passing motorist notified authorities.

Mrs Ella McCrabb Dies at Keota Home
Mrs Fairy Ella McCrabb aged 85 died at 7 o'clock this morning January 28 in her Keota home after months of ill health. Funeral services are set for Monday at 2 PM at the Keota Christian Church with Rev. Robert L. Burns. burial in Keota Cemetery, Powell Funeral Home handling arrangements. She was born July 1, 1875 in Bonaparte to Phillip and Margaret Beck and lived in Keota since age 18. She married David H. McCrabb February 14, 1899, who died in 1939. Surviving are two daughters Clara Kent and Marjorie Bywaters both of Keota, two sons George and Donald of Keota, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, half brother James Beck of Farmington, and half sister Mrs Walter Nealy of Monmouth IL. She was a member of the Keota Christian Church and was preceded in death by two brothers Charles and George.

Baker Sentenced To Three Year Jail Term
Robert Baker an international Teamsters official from St Louis was sentenced in Pittsburgh to a three year prison term and fined 1200. He was convicted last April of taking 525 dollars from Exhibitors Service Co of McKees Rocks to settle a 1957 strike by Teamsters Local 211. He was released on 5000 bond pending appeal to the Third Circuit in Philadelphia. He is married to the daughter of Jake More former Iowa Democratic party state chairman.

Fresno Bakersfield and Barstow agencies received reports from residents who felt or heard the quake while Calexico Needles did not.
