Senators oppose plea for more office space in Des Moines
In Des Moines on January 28, the state executive council fights for extra room for crowded departments by moving about fifty state workers into open areas of the capitol. The House passed a rental bill for East Des Moines offices, but the Senate referred it to committee and may oppose expanding space as lawmakers adjourn. The council argues committee rooms should remain for meetings and departments stay crowded both during and between sessions.
