Twelve Gallons of Whisky Seized at Wellman

Deputy Sheriff Black seized twelve gallons of whisky shipped in gallon jugs at Wellman on Saturday. The jugs, labeled groceries, were mailed via the B C R and N to multiple recipients, with only some correctly addressed. The liquor was stored in the county seat and will be destroyed if unclaimed on February 1. the hunt for others involved in the shipment continues.

Railway Runs Excursion to Burlington for Princess Bonnie

The B. N. W. railway will operate a special excursion to Burlington next Tuesday for the Princess Bonnie show. The round trip fare is 75 cents with a special return to Washington after the performance.

Friday Evening at W. J. Hamiltons Fleeced by Thieves

Friday evening W. J. Hamilton entertained friends. After refreshments were served sneak thieves raised a window and helped themselves to the eatables. They took all the sugar from the bowl and slammed it on the ground, breaking up a nice set.

Unidentified Man Killed by a Train Near Ottumwa

Ottumwa Iowa January 26 1896 section man John Lynch found a dead man by the track two miles from the city. The victim, about 35 or 86 years old and well dressed, appeared struck last evening with a crushed right leg and body stiff in snow. Assistant Superintendent McPartland and Joe Ballou were dispatched to the scene near the Sugar Creek bridge.
