Ten year old Frank Chadwick, son of miners Mr. and Mrs. John Chadwick, lost both legs in a February railroad accident near Rutledge while attempting to hop a moving Milwaukee train. Doctors at Ottumwa hospital fight to save his life as relatives await news. Frank, the third of five children, was not employed.
Mrs J A Rogers of Ainsworth visited town yesterday. National Light Oil offered by J W Lemley. Wallace and Jeffrey announce their annual Short Horn sale on February 20. M D Yard of Crawfordsville plans a closing out sale on February 19. Mrs Richard Donaldson of Ainsworth visited Edington home.
Lemmon's Pharmacy promotes Foley's Honey and Tar as a quick cure for la grippe coughs that may lead to pneumonia. The product allegedly heals sore lungs and prevents dangerous complications overnight.
An advertisement extols Mi-O-Na tablets claiming they cure all indigestion and dyspepsia by stopping fermentation and belching. It asserts Mi-O-Na builds blood by improving nutrient absorption, aids seasickness and morning sickness, and is sold by Lemmon's Pharmacy at 50 cents a box with a money back guarantee.
A public sale is announced for January 28 1909 at the seller's residence six miles north and one mile west of Ainsworth Iowa starting at 10 a m. The sale lists 25 horses many ages and weights along with 25 head of heifers yearling steers bred ewes shoats wagons and farming implements with terms including 12 month credit on sums over 10 and cash discounts for cash over 10. Auctioneers Bert Willits and Bert Wilson with J C Jones as clerk.
The Baptist church schedules an all day meeting this Wednesday led by Rev. Fred Berry and evangelists. The first service starts at 10 30 a m a 4 pm children service follows and a basket dinner is planned at noon. Everyone is invited.

Leon H. Cole, who entertained audiences at the Star electric theater, accepted a one year contract with the Lyric theater in Monmouth Illinois. He departed with his wife and may later transfer to a Lyric theater in Aurora. Meanwhile Mrs Hays and Mrs Tillotson will handle Star music.
