Water problems at Iowa rest areas may require upgrades

Iowa Interstate rest areas face water shortages and poor taste due to high minerals. The Iowa Highway Commission, with ISU consultant Robert C. Johnson, recommends extensive upgrades across eight rest area pairs, including softening, mineral removal, new pumps, tanks, and interconnections costing up to about 350000 dollars. Improvements aim to ensure adequate supply and palatable water for heavy daily use, with funding and timelines still under review.

Soap film control and new car care products

New York reports discuss using cold water with a small amount of additive for easy removal of soap film and dirt while preserving polish. Amway cites a polishing agent that forms a protective film, cleans, fills scratches, resists moisture, and adds shine. A silicone glaze offers all advantages with a dry cloth. A product clears glass and chrome film and slows rust on metal. A combined cleaner handles plastic or leather while preserving softness. Tire cleaners are nonflammable, nonabrasive, and safe for paint.
