He argues Americans are not wick ed today and that church remains a social anchor despite radio, movie and television competition. He is believed to be the nation’s oldest preacher.

Joseph Albert Yedik Sr. of Conesville died at home Saturday afternoon January 25. Services will be at 2 PM Tuesday in the Conesville Methodist church. Burial in Conesville cemetery with Stephens funeral home of Columbus Junction handling arrangements. Born April 21, 1872 in Solon. Survived by his widow and seven sons and daughters.

Martha Axtell Dies at Williamsburg Former Junction Resident
Martha Axtell 82, of Williamsburg and a former Columbus Junction resident, died at 4 a.m. at her son's home in Williamsburg. Born September 1 1871 in Columbus Junction, she married Perry Axtell in 1891. Surviving are two sons Lloyd and Emory of Williamsburg, daughter Edith Kials of North English, sister Winnie Sargent of Columbus Junction, and brothers Otto Kemp of Burlington Abner Kemp of Grandview and Ernest Kemp of Conesville. Funeral arrangements are pending at Stephens Funeral Home in Columbus Junction.

Mrs. Lester Townsend of Milton Junction Wisconsin and her two daughters were released from hospital after injuries from an January 18 auto crash. The car skidded on ice, hit a culvert, and landed in a field. Krista suffered a brain concussion, Lois a fractured ankle, and a lip cut. Tommy was uninjured.

Boone Bus Service Buses Destroyed by Fire
A Sunday blaze in Boone wiped out most of the city bus fleet. Fire damaged the Boone Bus Service Co yard, destroying all but one bus. Richard Cornell, owner, said the loss was insured. Firefighters battled the flames for about four hours beginning near midnight.
