Mrs. Lina Jones 95 Dies in Oskaloosa
Mrs. Lina V. Jones died at 11 this morning in Oskaloosa from pneumonia after a hip injury last year. Born near Abington Iowa in 1855, she moved to Sigourney in 1877 and was a long time member of the Christian church and Rebekah lodge. Survivors include her daughter Mrs. John T. Smith of Oskaloosa and two sons, with eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Burial in Sigourney.

Word comes from Washington of the death Wednesday afternoon at Long Beach California of Mrs Leah Shaver. She had been ill for several months. Surviving are a sister Mrs C B Moomey Kalona and a brother Harold Morgan Washington. Burial plans remain indefinite.

Local Locker Plant Receives Merit Award
National recognition was given the Cooperative Services food lockers yesterday when the plant was presented the Award of Merit Certificate for being one of the outstanding plants in the state. Don McClure accepted the award from Albert Todoroff editor of Locker Management magazine after an inspection. The award was based on high operational standards frozen foods promotion and general high standards of locker operation.

UN Task Force Shells Inchon in Navy Shelling Raid
A multinational United Nations task force of American British and allied warships shelled Inchon on the Yellow Sea coast near Seoul. The attack used eight and six inch shells from cruisers and destroyers as ground fighting remained light and no amphibious assault was reported. Two Firms Awarded Construction Paving Contracts in County
The Iowa State Highway Commission at Ames approved paving and bridge bids in Washington county. Ross Construction Company won the $777,483 contract to pave 16.29 miles of highway 1 between Kalona and Iowa City. T. J.
