Legislative Report on Iowa General Assembly Committee Work
The General Assembly spent most of the week in committees with little floor activity. Ways & Means heard from Comptroller Marvin Selden Jr. and Revenue Director Donald Briggs on expenditures and state revenue. The first House bill passed was Joint Resolution 1 to seek release of Nixon era funds for REA REAP and Rural Emergency Loans, which I support and fear being cut. Gov. Ray’s budget message is highly anticipated as temp rules have been adopted.
