In Des Moines three silver nails hold jagged bone ends in Miss Helen Anderson’s right leg after fractures from a December ice fall. Cast has kept nails protruding about four inches on each side, preventing use of crutches as she recovers.
Waterlooo reporters note that more than 850 lambs were exhibited by 56 4-H club members from 10 northeastern Iowa counties in the second annual northeast Iowa western lamb show and sale. The event drew just over twice as many entries as the 1937 show.
Drake University students voted 627 to 167 in favor of including a Wassermann test for syphilis in compulsory yearly physicals. Of 794 voters, many also said they would volunteer for the test if offered.

Fort Madison Iowa January 22 UP the state has executed 16 men for murder since 1894 when hangings moved to the state penitentiary. Two more will be added Monday John Mercer and Allen Wheaton.
