Samuel Evans Dies at 75 After Two Month Illness
Samuel Evans 75, longtime resident of Washington, died at 9:00 a.m. at his home 709 South Third Avenue after a two month illness. Funeral services set for Thursday at 1 p.m. at L. A. Jones funeral home with Rev. D. Chalmers Fulton presiding. Burial will be in Williamsburg after services. He was born April 13 1854 in Pennsylvania, lived in Williams burg and Louisa County before moving to Washington in 1922. Survived by two daughters Mrs. Newton Davis Crawfordsville and Mrs. Rees Davis Columbus Junction, four grandchildren, four nephews, one brother John Evans, one sister Mrs. Cassie Jones Williamsburg. two sisters deceased. He was a member of United Presbyterian church and Odd Fellows lodge Williamsburg.
