Kalona minister Hershberger dies at 95
Joseph L. Hershberger 95 of Kalona died at 8 15 am at his home after a two week illness. Funeral Sunday at 2 pm at Lower Deer Creek Mennonite church where he served as minister for over 50 years. In charge are John Y Swartzendruber Dean Swartzendru ber and Robert K Yoder. Body at Yoder Funeral Home until 1 pm Sunday then viewing at church. Born April 15 1870 in Johnson County son of Emmanuel and Lydia Hershberger. Married Lucretia Miller December 7 1893 she died December 6 1944. Ordained May 11 1913 and lifelong resident of Wellman and Kalona area. Moved to Kalona in 1940. Surviving three daughters Mrs Amy Steckly Wellman Mrs Nancy Yoder and Esther Hershberger Kalona. two sons Homer Kalona and Paul J Wellman. 14 grandchildren 26 great grandchildren one brother Chris E Hershberger Kalona and one sister Mrs W D Brennaman Kalona.

Shriver pledges more funds for War on Poverty
