VFW Auxiliary Meeting Highlights and Fund Allocations
Mrs Francis Reed led the VFW Auxiliary meeting at the VFW Hall Tuesday evening. Committees reported and members were urged to submit community service hours. Plans were made to present a flag to Washington Care Center this spring. Five dollars each were voted to the Auxiliary Cancer Fund and the U S O. Mrs Walker opened the birthday box and Mrs Helen Martin won the attendance prize. Refreshments were served by Mrs Glenn Widmer and Mrs Fred Metzger.

HJ Club Holds All Day Sewing Meeting At Mrs Shalla Home
Mrs Dwane Shalla hosted the HJ Club for an all day sewing session at her home on Thursday. Members brought kolaches for lunch and the group shared a noon salad luncheon. Business matters included year books dues and a Red Cross collection. A Veterans Hospital Iowa City thank you letter was read. Sixteen members attended plus a guest and children. men joined for supper and celebrated a 25th wedding anniversary for Mr and Mrs Dean Luers. Next meeting will be an all day event with Mrs Verne Escher and Mrs Lawrence Whisler cohostess.

John Beenblossom Jr. recuperates at home after a stay at University Hospital in Iowa City and returns home this morning. Mr and Mrs Duane White of Ainsworth came back Wednesday from a month with their daughter and son in law in Baumholder Germany. They took a six day motor coach tour to London over New Years and toured Germany. SFC Stafford has 11 months remaining on his tour of duty in Germany.
