Three Teen Age Youths Admit Iowa Robberies

Three teenage youths from Garrison confess to a string of robberies in eastern Iowa towns. Duane Kruse, 14, Gale Barkdoll, 17, and Don Barkdoll, 15, were arrested in Waterloo and Cedar Rapids on breaking and entering charges. Deputy Sheriff Pat Medley headed to Cedar Rapids to pick up the Barkdoll brothers. arraignments were expected later.

Enfield Given Five Year Suspended Sentence in Embezzlement Case

Charles T. Enfield of Wellman received a five year suspended sentence to the Anamosa reformatory in district court Thursday afternoon after being charged with embezzlement of mortgaged property. Mr. and Mrs. W T Carson have driven to Florida and other southern destinations for a few weeks of sightseeing.

Capt Henrik Kurt Carlsen said there is no place like home after the Flying Enterprise rescue saga. He faced a hero’s welcome in New York with a ticker tape parade watched by about 500000, and 75 tons of paper showered the escort. He will be honored again in Soodbridge with a local parade tomorrow.

Woman Thought Dead Revived After Arriving At Funeral Home

An 81 year old woman, Mary Sobota, revived at a funeral parlor after nurses at a convalescent home found no pulse and she was declared dead. Firemen and a rescue squad administered oxygen and transported her to St Vincent's hospital where she regained breathing but remained unconscious.
