Area elementary schools will send about 150 students to a solo music festival in Washington on Saturday January 25. The Everetts Music Company sponsors the event with the YMCA and Youth Center serving as solo centers. Two judges Dr Price of Iowa Wesleyan College and Alan Bergstrom of Washington will evaluate instrumental solos and certificates will mark ratings. Students were not required to attend except during scheduled test times. Mr Herveys final speech exam drew comment as pupils presented ten minute speeches on stage in the auditorium with about 25 in attendance. Richland 22 miles south of town two story frame home of Herb Graham and son Lloyd burned Thursday afternoon total loss. Firefighters from Richland and Packwood used 3 000 gallons of water.
