Eight Chicago officers held in pre-dawn burglary raids
Flying squads of police in Chicago arrested eight officers on burglary charges after raids that seized four wagonloads of stolen goods. Authorities said more officers may be involved, with as many as forty suspected. The suspects were held for grand jury questioning and face court Saturday.

About 250 people attended the annual wild game dinner by the Chicauga Chapter of the Izaak Walton League. A film What Makes Alaska Alaska was shown. Darrell Thompson could not travel. Mrs. Thompson and daughter Jeanine attended from Graverly Ia. Twelve wild dishes were served including pheasant duck squirrel rabbit coon possum and wild boar. Turkey workshop and agronomy school planned by extension service

LSU Dean Held On Murder Charge In Slaying Of Protege
Dr. George H. Mickey executive dean of LSU Graduate School is jailed without bail on murder charges for the bludgeon death of Margaret Rosamond McMillan. The 38 year old biology professor was found dead near the Mississippi River road, her skull fractured by 13 blows. McMillan’s body was shipped to Evanston Idaho for burial.

She was born August 4 1879 in Dutch Creek Township married October 13 1897 to Elmer Swickard who died November 29 1951. She lived here since 1919. Tri County School Hearing Set for January 20
A hearing on the appeal of the Tri County school reorganization proposal will be held in the courthouse at 10 a m on January 20. The Brighton Pleasant Plain and Richland area plus surrounding rural districts are involved. The appeal challenges a ruling by J C Wright state superintendent of public instruction that the proposal be withdrawn without voting.
