Mrs Slattie Caruthers pressed charges of beating choking and injuring against her husband after a Saturday incident. Sheriff Teeter arrested him and the case moved from Justice Rogers to Justice Maxwell. Both are young with a six month old child. the wife sought to leave with the baby. A small key vanished weeks earlier from a penny drawer. On a Saturday evening a suspect attempted entry, a Dr. Anderson offered a light, and a sturdy colleague helped. the thief fled after a window was opened. The key was later found in the drawer with about 20 cents missing. The authors speculate a routine theft during route collections.

Town trouble as a caboose raid Ends with Sheriff release
Report notes two incidents in town last night. A group of men and a boy detained by Sheriff Weeter for breaking into a Rock Island caboose. No proof found, the boy released after a lecture and return home promised. Also a brief business note from Smith & Baird defending continued operation and thanks to patrons.
Wedded in West End Burling ton Worker Marries Mrs Ferguson
Mr. Bongert of Burling ton wed Mrs Arminta Ferguson in a wedding at the bride's home in the West End. Squire Rogers officiated as about 35 friends attended a royal supper.
