Minnesota Couple Admit Kidnapping Two Year Old Baby
New Ulm Minnesota police arrested Leonard Scheid 35 and his wife after a two week old baby boy was abducted from his home. The infant was found alive in an apartment above a New Ulm beer parlor where a neighbor reported a baby had appeared. The child’s mother Mrs Eugene Callahan arrived distressed and frightened for the infant. The couple claimed the infant was taken to replace a baby the wife had miscarried last fall. The alleged kidnapping began when the woman forced Callahan and her four year old son into a closet before locking them inside. The case is under police investigation.

Whisler Barn Burns in Riverside Road Fire
A devastating morning fire destroyed the Whisler farm barn, a 46 by 60 foot structure four and a half miles northeast of Washing ton on Riverside Road. Four cows four calves and four sows were lost along with over 1 000 bushels of corn 700 bushels of oats and 1 400 to 1 500 bales of hay. Fire started inside likely from faulty wiring and firefighters, aided by wind, fought flames as the home and machinery shed were kept safe. Loss is estimated in the thousands with some insurance coverage.
