The Iowa Public Employment Relations Board ruled that the state and the governor are the public employer for purposes of collective bargaining. The decision covers all state employees including Regents boards DOT ISU Center UI Hospitals ISU Extension and various state agencies. Labor leaders say the ruling disadvantages workers while hinting at statewide bargaining.

Farmers object to lengthy five year census forms

Iowa Wins 776000 Grant for Safer Roads
Governor Robert D. Ray announced a 776,259 incentive grant to the Iowa Highway Safety Program for cutting 1974 traffic fatalities to 685, 180 fewer than the four year 865.5 average.
