Truck runs wild on city street in Washington
A Florida semi-truck loaded with 43 500 pounds of potatoes careered through Washington early today and stopped a half block from a recent gathering site. The truck, owned by Allen Tharp of Clermont, driven by Donald Brannon of Cottondale, first hit a railroad bridge trestle during the incident.

Semi Truck Out Of Control In Washington Incident
A semi truck ran wild on old highway 92 near Chau Tau Motel in Washington. It damaged the trailer top, crossed Madison street, knocked a sign, and veered onto the sidewalk near the high school. The truck stopped in a yard at 414 East Madison after narrowly missing a tree. Driver Brannon fled to a nearby home, claimed someone was trying to kill him, fired shots from the cab, and was taken to the city jail. Four Die In Iowa Highway Wrecks On Fatal Day
Four persons died Friday in Iowa traffic crashes marking the worst day of the year so far. Renwick men Ralph L. Stumbow 61 and Elmer W. Prelip 34 died when their pickup left a highway west of Renwick. a Elgin woman and an elderly Methodist minister also perished. The state toll rose to eight, compared with 19 a year earlier.
