Health Unit reports early week birth rush and plans
The Health Unit notes two home deliveries this past week with births arriving early for 1949 and another home birth this week. A Child Health Conference will be held at Riverside Public School next Tuesday January 11 from 1 30 to 3 00 p m with Mrs Verne Maas taking appointments. The piece recalls 1948 as the first year Iowa has been without smallpox and urges continued vaccination along with sanitation water quality safe milk convalescent homes disease control and immunization efforts supported by local hospital physicians dentists and veterinarians.

Swailes Extends Electric Lights to Swank Church
Ernest Swailes wired the Swank church for electric lights last week and also did wiring at Henry Prymek. Gary Gayle and Lois Mincer visited the Robert Wieland family on New Year’s Eve as the Prymek family aided Mrs. Rose Lungquist in moving to a Lone Tree home. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Owens and daughter Wenda visited in Lincoln Nebraska with their daughter and son-in-law. The Prymeks hosted Cleo Burich and family for Tuesday evening.
