A civilian C-46 with 41 aboard, 37 men, vanished after last contact at 3 58 a.m. over Malad Idaho. Father and son die from gas poisoning in Indianola
In Indianola, Dr. H. L. Orniston, 30, and his two year old son Scotty were found dead from carbon monoxide in their home. His wife was rushed to a Des Moines hospital unconscious but described as fair condition. Authorities cited the gas furnace as the likely source. A heating company official noted a problem with the furnace.

Accident on Riverside gravel road blamed on road condition
Albert B. Schantz and Will Havel, both of Washington, collided at the Riverside gravel road corner east of Washington around 5 p.m. Tuesday while Schantz turned north from the eastbound lane. Damage totaled 300 dollars to the Schantz car and 75 dollars to the Havel vehicle.

Six Believed Dead In Texas Oil Fire
An explosion at the Shell Oil Company cycling plant in Colorado County Texas left four confirmed dead and two more believed dead.
