A 75 man work relief project at the U S biological station in Fairport will start under Leslie Bennett supervision. The Muscatine county effort, announced by William Naber work relief engineer, will deliver about 10 000 hours of labor.
A blaze in the Iowa statehouse last night caused about $200 in damage. The fire confined to the stock room of the state printing department destroyed flammable paper and is thought to have started from a heavy truck stored in the room.
Des Moines parent teachers council with 6000 members plans active campaign for a local option on state liquor stores. President Mrs. Robert Lappen said the decision was made at a December meeting.
The state board of assessment and review granted a $60,000 reduction in the 1933 assessment for the Hotel Mississippi. The original assessment of $450,000 was decreased to $390,000 on the recommendation of the Davenport city council.
