State Safety Commissioner Charles Larson asks the Legislature to add 35 troopers, aiming for a total of 445, contingent on federal funds. notes 75 troopers were lost since 1968 due to a shorter workweek and longer vacations, with reassignment of some staff from the drivers' license division.
