Selina Peake Sells Lunch Box at Dutch Auction in High Prairie
Selina Peake arrives as a schoolteacher in High Prairie 1888. At Adam Ooms hall she bids to auction her modest lunch box, hoping for a quiet evening, while Pervus DeJong stands by amid a crowd watching Widow Paarlenberg and a dramatic bid escalation. The event reveals Selina’s awkward charm and the town’s social intrigue as the auction ends with a twist.
