Wayland Family Builds Iowa Turkey Empire
Clair D. Boshart of Wayland started with one 16 by 75 foot turkey house in 1946 and now runs about 32 000 turkeys yearly on an 84 acre farm with multiple large houses and a modern office. His two sons and three full time workers share duties while his wife handles bookkeeping. Turkeys are sold to a Burlington dressing plant and frozen dressed birds are sold year round.
