Housing Bill Is Saved by House Vote
Washington February 28 UPI The House defeated a move to kill the administration backed Patman housing bill by 143 to 29. The measure would create a housing czar with power to set price ceilings on new homes. A tentative amendment to terminate the bill on June 9 1947 was adopted. Rep Wright Patman charged the change would scuttle the program and deprive veterans of promised homes.
