Relic air compressor moved from city water works
Washington officials will relocate a nine year idle air compressor from the city water works to the Midwest Old Settlers and Threshers Association in Mount Pleasant. The 60 horsepower device previously pumped water from well No 3 at 100 gallons per minute and made loud noise before its quieter replacement on well 7 operates 675 gallons per minute. The plant uses three newer compressors on wells 5 6 and 7, and staff will remove the old unit through the north doors onto rollers after which a new use for the vacated space is sought.
