Philadelphia boxer Tommy Ryan visited Iowa City to organize wrestling and boxing classes for University of Iowa students. He may be retained to conduct sessions in the variety gymnasium. He paused fighting to take on the teaching role and already runs a large class at Ames, with a second year nearing completion. An exhibition boxing and wrestling show is planned in two weeks.
W A Gibson of this city announces his candidacy for member ship on the Board of Supervisors to succeed Samuel McCleery whose term expires Jan 1 1910. He will run in the Republican primaries in June. Gibson is a lifelong resident of the city and well known county wide and would fill the position with dignity if elected.
Nelile Loso aged 24 attempted suicide by jumping from the high bridge into icy Mississippi waters Monday afternoon. Ice cutters rescued her from the water hauling her out with ice hooks.
I. J. Hanley yesterday announced his Democratic bid for the county attorney nomination in the upcoming primaries. Hanley has practiced in Washington for years and has been involved in several significant cases in this and other counties.
