In Sioux City Republicans nominate Vincent Murray and Democrats nominate William Gross for the March 8 special election to fill the Sullivan vacancy. Sullivan died Feb 13, prompting the race. Murray is a 58 year old insurance agent. Gross is a 41 year old Sioux City councilman. Rockets Hit Quang Tri Base In Laos War Theater
In Saigon a rocket attack struck Quang Tri, a key staging base for the Laos incursion. U.S. Command reports 29 helicopters lost with 40 Americans killed, 26 wounded and 15 missing since February 8.
