Albert H DeSalvo the Boston strangler known as the phantom killer escaped Bridgewater State Hospital with two inmates using a key to unlock third floor cells. They climbed an elevator shaft and breached a wall before fleeing into the snow prompting a large manhunt five weeks after his life sentence for sexual assaults. F Lee Bailey defended DeSalvo saying he does not believe he is dangerous.

Fire burns two story home outside city limits

Surprise blizzard hits Great Lakes region and Midwest
