She served as mayor in 1924 on an all woman ticket for one year. A graduate of Iowa State Teachers College and Highland Park College she taught in Louisa County. Born February 17 1877 near Columbus Junction she was the daughter of William and Amanda Bretz. Funeral 2 PM Thursday at Stacy Funeral Home with Rev George C Pennington. Burial in Columbus City Cemetery.
