Two sailors were killed and three others missing presumed dead when a series of explosions and a fire struck the submarine Pomodon at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard in San Francisco. Four injured, including Lt Lloyd Rudasell White and Bobby Douglas Pulliam, were treated at Oak Knoll Hospital. A board of inquiry will investigate the blast as hydrogen gas buildup explained the hazard.

Fire destroys twelve cars and trucks in Red Oak
A blaze at Kavan Motor in Red Oak Iowa destroyed 12 new and used cars and trucks with damage pegged at $20000. Firefighters battled the flames for over four hours in near zero weather Saturday night. Fire Chief Neil Frank asked the state fire marshal to investigate.

Recover Bodies Of Plane Crash Victims Today
Rescue teams recovered five bodies from a Trans World Airlines crash site 15 miles east of Albuquerque New Mexico atop Needle Peak. John Elwood Bray, 66, of Richland, died Sunday at 10 30 a m in Jefferson County Hospital Fairfield after four years of illness. Burial plans await arrival of children from California.
