George D. Wilson Sentenced for Forgery in Fort Madison
George D Wilson was sentenced by Judge Charley A Dewey to not more than fifteen years in the state penitentiary at Fort Madison for passing about thirty forged checks totaling over 500 dollars. Wilson faces possible parole depending on the state board. He was arrested after a forged check at Ward Dry Goods on February 12 and will be taken to prison tomorrow.

Three Cars Involved In Crash Near Town

Two Washington Homes Damaged in Roof Fires
Two residences in Washington suffered major roof fires within twenty four hours. The Dr D D Davis home at 745 West Washington Street burned through shingles after a chimney spark started the blaze, with four water streams bringing it under control though upper floors were badly damaged. The Ceph Dodd home at 621 West Jefferson Street also lost much of its roof but the damage was lighter and insured. Roofs remained dry raising risk of further fires as sparks ignite shingles.
