The SEATS mini-bus was unveiled this morning with county committee members and officials present including Mayor Harold Johnson and Congressman Ed Mezvinsky. The first bus is on display at the Evening Journal and regular service begins Monday February 25 with several residents taking a short ride.

UPI reports Pfc. Robert K. Preston 20 of Panama City Florida stole an unarmed helicopter from Ft Meade and flew it toward Washington. He crash landed near the White House after zigzagging over highways and the Ellipse. He was arraigned on unlawful entry charges and is under psychiatric observation at Walter Reed Army Hospital.

Nine die on Iowa roads in deadly weekend
United Press International reports nine people under 28 were killed on Iowa roads in a single brutal weekend. Ottumwa family of three perished when their car was struck at a Burlington Northern crossing in Agency, with two others injured. Other deaths occurred in St Donatus, Earling, Keokuk, Council Bluffs and Muscatine areas from crashes involving a mix of cars, a motorcycle, ice conditions and a truck collision.

End of Secret Service Protection for Agnew Initiated
Secret Service protection for Spiro T. Agnew ended at midnight today after his resignation as vice president. He was on a golfing vacation in Palm Springs California when agents were withdrawn.
